What is Bundle Allowance? How to Calculate Bundle Allowance?
For the
calculation of SAM with the help of Time Study, basically major three types of
allowance time are added. These allowances are-
1. Machine
Allowance
2. Bundle
Allowance
3.
Personal Allowance
I already
discuss Machine and Personal allowance. In this article, I will discuss
Bundle Allowance.
What is a Bundle Allowance?
Sewing
input supervisor make the bundle of different garment pieces in the input
section. Generally, bundle size is 15-20 pieces. For the special type of
garments bundle size maybe 5-10 pieces. After getting the bundle, sewing operator
need to untie (open) the bundle first and after performing the task also need
to tie (close) the bundle. The operator also draw the bundle from back or side as
well as he can push the bundle for the next operator. So every time hast to manage
bundle by -
✔ Opening
✔ Closing
✔ Arranging and
✔ Moving
For all of
above activities operators spend a certain time. It can be a fraction of minute
for one bundle but it is a big-time if we consider the entire day.
The time
required to manage bundle is called Bundle Allowance Time or Bundle Allowance.
How to Calculate Bundle Allowance?
When we
calculate SAM, bundle allowance are added as single pieces. If total bundle
allowance time is divide by the number of pieces in the bundle, bundle allowance of
single pieces will be determined. If bundle size increases, bundle allowance
time will decrease and vice versa.
Say for Example, In a garment bundle there is
total 20 pieces. Bundle management time (opening, closing, arranging, moving)
time is 23 second. What is the Bundle Allowance for 1 pieces?
Solution:
Here, Bundle management time = 23
second.
Bundle Size = 20 pieces
So, Bundle Allowance/Pieces = 23/20 = 1.15 second.
