What is Line Balancing?
Line balancing is the process of
designing a smooth workflow across the entire line by allocating capacity in such
a way that same amount of work is processed in every operation at any point in
the day.
Line balancing levels the workload
across all processes in the production system. Proper line balancing removes
bottleneck, excess capacity as well as over and under capacity from the line.
Why Need Line Balancing?
✔ Smooth production flow
✔ Reducing bottleneck from line
✔ Proper utilization of man and machine hour
✔ Minimizing entire process time
✔ Minimize workstation in the entire system
✔ Reducing overtime
✔ Maximizing production without interruption
✔ Increasing line efficiency
Importance of Line Balancing
✔ Line balancing helps to allocate the right operator to the right process.
✔ It helps to identify and remove the bottleneck from the line.
✔ It helps to measure the required manpower and machine in
the line.
✔ It tells us in which point has to take the operator in
overtime to balance work for the next day.
✔ It helps us to increase line
production and efficiency with minimum manpower and machine.
