How to Calculate Garment Production?
Everyone related to garments production should know how to estimate garments production. One of the responsibilities that an engineer and production supervisors perform regularly is estimating garment production. In this post, I explained how to calculate daily garments production.
Production is the total number of garments stitched by operators in a line in a
day. Production is also termed as daily output. To estimate production,
you need the following information.
The total number of garments
stitched by operators on a line in a day is called production. Production is
sometimes referred to as daily production in some circles. You'll need the
following facts to calculate production.
✔ Garment SAM
✔ Number of operators working in the line
✔ Shift Minute
✔ Total available Man-Minute of line
✔ Average line efficiency
✔ Total break time of line
Production Calculation Formula
The following formula is used for calculating garment production.
Daily production = (The working Minute of line/SAM) × Average line efficiency
The working Minute of line = (Number of operators working in the line× Shift Minute) - Total break Minute of line
Let’s do a real-time garment
production calculation.
Daily production = (Total man minutes available in a day/SAM) * Average Line efficiency
Total available man-minutes =(Total no. of operators * Working hours in a day * 60)
Let's assume
Garment SAM = 15
Number of operators working in the line = 35
The working Minute of line = 8 hours × 60 = 480 Minutes
Average line efficiency = 60%
Total break time of line = 60 minutes (for lunch and tea
break.)
The working Minute of line = 8 hours × 60 = 480 Minutes
We know
Daily production = (The working
Minute of line/SAM) × Average line efficiency
The working Minute of line = (35× 480)
– 60 = 16740 minutes
Daily production = 16740/15 × 60%
= 669.6 ~ 670 PCS
The daily output of a line is directly proportional to its
efficiency. Operators, working hours and production is inversely proportional
to SAM.
