How to Measure Machine Efficiency?
The concept of measuring machine efficiency is almost the same as calculating operator
efficiency. In this article, we will learn how to calculate machine efficiency.
Sewing Machine Efficiency Calculation
We
know that efficiency is the ratio of produced minutes to spent minutes
multiplied by 100.
Machine
efficiency is the ratio of total produced minutes produced by a machine to the
total minutes spent by this machine multiplied by 100. The common formula to
calculate efficiency is-
For the calculation of machine efficiency, here-
Output = Number of garments pieces
produced by a machine
SMV =
Standard Minute Value of the process run in the machine
Manpower = 1 (as
Individual Machine/Single machine)
Working minute = Total minutes run to produce the
garments.
Example:
A
machine output is 1300 pcs in 10 hours. SMV of the process run in this machine is
0.36. What is the efficiency of this machine?
Here,
Output = 1300 pcs
SMV =
0.36
Manpower = 1
Working Minute = 10 hours = 10 × 60 = 600 minutes
If
we put all the value in the efficiency formula we will find the efficiency of
this operator.
So,
Efficiency = [(1300 × 0.36)/(1 × 600)] × 100 = 78%
